Groups & Projects
Projects and groups that Newstead 2050 Inc supports include:

Renewable Newstead
A project to bring locally generated renewable energy to Newstead that’s available to all.

Walks and Wheels
A group of dedicated volunteers developing walking and wheeling opportunities for Newstead residents and visitors. These include group bike rides and walks exploring the countryside around Newstead.

Newstead Community Garden
A garden site with individual and shared plots where locals grow fruit and vegetables using biodynamic principles.

Talking Fire
Talking Fire creates different kinds of community conversations about fire. It is an initiative of the Muckleford Forest Friends Group, a network of people who live in and near the Muckleford Forest and Maldon Historic Reserve in the Central Victorian Goldfields.

Newstead Young Writers Festival
The Newstead Young Writers Festival embraces young writers, illustrators and creatives of all ages and seeks to continue the tradition of storytelling practiced on the banks of the Loddon River for tens of thousands of years. Our next Festival is on Sun Oct 11 2026. Keep an eye on our website for more details.

Newstead Arts Hub
Newstead Arts Hub Inc is a community creative space, based in the historic Newstead railway station. The Arts Hub was created in 2015 and initially auspiced by Newstead 2021 Inc. The Arts Hub now operates as an independent organisation. To find out what’s on, propose an exhibition, workshop or event go to the Hub’s website.

Newstead Open Studios
Newstead Open Studios art trail is an annual event, held in March. A chance to visit local artists’ studios. For the current program and map visit Newstead Open Studios website.

Vibrant Newstead
Vibrant Newstead was a six-month project delivered in 2024 to foster projects and volunteers in Newstead.

Street Tree Renewal Project/ Liveable Newstead

Newstead Community Plan
